This year’s U13 Sussex Cricket Festival by Sporta Tours saw the return of Dorset Cricket Board, Abu Dhabi Cricket Club (Zayed Academy), Sussex CCC and Jersey Cricket for four days of 40-over cricket and a T20 match.

Taking place 13th – 18th August and with sunshine all week, play was uninterrupted.  It resulted in some competitive matches average scores of between 140 and 150 runs per team.

Dorset and Jersey emerged as finalists before Dorset went on to clinch the trophy.

Pro cricketer Steve Magoffin from Sussex CCC presented the medals and trophy and Alex Deem (Dorset) was awarded Player of the Tournament. He won tickets to the England v West Indies Test Match at Lords.

The competition takes place annually and is held at Ardingly College in West Sussex which provides a fantastic , and safe setting. Teams stay on-site and are able to make the most of the College’s facilities. This year’s event saw players swim in the evenings, take in a Harry Potter theme night in the dining hall and gather to watch the Test match on Sky Sports.

Our thanks go to Steve for attending the awards ceremony, the groundsmen, the umpires panel (led by Ian Farrell) and the support staff at Ardingly College.
