Sample itinerary for a rugby tour to New Zealand
All tours by Sporta are tailored to meet the requirements of each school and club we work with and also vary according to the sport. Our example itinerary provides an idea of how a rugby tour to New Zealand could look. To find out more or discuss a cricket tour to New Zealand please get in touch:
Day 1 – Arrive in Christchurch where you will be met by a Sporta representative ready for a coach transfer to your hotel. Welcome dinner in the evening.
Day 2 – City tour, including a visit to the Crusaders facilities and their new inner city stadium Te Kaha. Afternoon training session.
Day 3 – Match day 1 vs local opposition followed by a post-match gathering.
Day 4 – Fly to Queenstown and transfer to your new accommodation where you’ll be based for the next 3 nights.
Day 5 – Sightseeing day, including a visit to Arrowtown (born of Gold)” and the iconic Kawerau Bridge, home of bungy. Plus ‘Catching the Canyons’ ride on the world-famous Shotover jet.
Day 6 – Match day 2 vs Queenstown local opposition followed by a post-match gathering.
Day 7 – Fly to Wellington and transfer to your accommodation where you’ll be based for the next 3 nights.
Day 8 – Led walking tour of Wellington today, including the waterfront, te Papa national museum (‘our place), the Basin Reserve, Cuba Street, Parliament and Lambton Quay.
Day 9 – Match day 3 vs Wellington local opposition followed by a post-match gathering.
Day 10 – Depart Wellington for Rotorua via an included stop at the NZ Rugby Museum in Palmerston North. Check into your accommodation for the next 3 nights. This evening you’ll enjoy a Maori hangi meal and concert performance.
Day 11 – Rotorua tour today, including the Skyline Gondola and 3 luge rides, a visit to the Botanic Gardens, Whagapipiro (‘evil smelling place’), the lakefront and Ohinemutu maori village.
Day 12 – Depart Match day 4 vs Rotorua or Tauranga local opposition followed by a post-match gathering.
Day 13 – Depart Rotorua for Auckland today. Enjoy a guided tour of the multi-million All Blacks Experience this afternoon. Check into your central city hotel where you’ll be based for the next 2 nights.
Day 14 – Match day 5 vs Auckland or North Harbour local opposition. Final night dinner and awards presentation.
Day 15 – Check out of your accommodation and transfer to Auckland International Airport and depart for your flight home.
