Matthew Jackson
Managing Director
Founder of the company back in 2006, Matthew knows Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Sharjah like the back of his hand, and in particular, the complex structure of its cricket community.
A fanatical cyclist, he is often out on the roads of Sussex and the Dubai cycle tracks during his free time. Matthew is an enthusiastic, if average, village cricketer and is not shy of reminding us that he scored a 50 just after his 50th Birthday… we hope he gives up cricket before he gets to 60!

Michael Craigs
Director
Michael has extensive experience managing tours for schools, clubs and teams and works with clients from his base in the North East.
Sport is his greatest passion, particularly rugby and cricket. He has represented Durham CCC and Northumberland CCC and coached here in the UK and overseas. With some fantastic travel experiences under his belt too, including time spent in Spain, Australia and New Zealand, he is able to combine both in his role here at Sporta.
Russell Talman
Sales Executive
Russell has worked in the school travel sector for over a decade and has experience taking groups to some amazing destinations around the world. Favourites include Antigua, Barbados, South Africa and Sri Lanka.
As the oldest member of Middleton CC, he’s often referred to as ‘Uncle Russ’ by his younger and more spritely teammates. Russell is also a keen golfer when time allows.
Emma Dunbar
UAE Operations Executive
Emma has more than 20 years’ experience working in sport in the UAE and has hosted numerous tours for us.
Now based in the UK, she continues to be an integral member of the team. Emma manages many of our tours to the region and her on-the-ground knowledge and contacts benefit our clients.
Christine Jackson
Head of Finance & HR
Christine has been part of Sporta since our early days. She oversees our finance and HR drawing on a varied background in finance and business management. Alongside this role she is also often found overseas hosting and is known to many of our clients.
Outside of work, travel, walking and cycling are among her favourite pastimes.
Megan Smith
Head of Operations
Megan overseas the operational aspect of all our tours. She also works with Matthew to coordinate tours and logistics for the professional teams we work with, including the England Lions and numerous County teams. She has a background working with the Jockey Club and as part of the operations team for the Cheltenham Festival and the Grand National Festival. A former long distance runner, she is now heavily into netball and regularly plays for her club in Somerset.
Diane Eadon
Operations Assistant
Diane wears many hats, working with everyone in the Sporta team to manage bookings and arrangements, check everything is as it should be, and check again.
With a background in operations and finance, and a calm and professional manner she quietly contributes to the exacting service we provide to clients.
Toby Simmons
Ski Specialist
Our in-house ski expert, Toby, has worked in the management of active travel since 2011. Having spent eight years travelling Europe, North America and New Zealand with his bike and skis, his knowledge and experience delivering tours is second to none.
Toby’s lifeblood is sport, of any kind. He’s a former rugby full back, spent three years competing in slopestyle and big air skiing and enjoyed four years as a bike guide.
Sam Woodward
Director, Sporta Bike+
Sam is co-founder and Director of Sporta Bike+ which offers a comprehensive ‘plane to pedal’ service for schools, clubs and groups.
Perhaps his dream job, it draws on his experience as a Director of Sport spanning some 13 years and his passion and ability as a cyclist, not to mention his energy and enthusiasm.
Mark Stear
Tour Host
Mark helps host our UAE tours. He is an accomplished cricketer, having played to minor counties standard with Berkshire CCC.
He also works with the Barmy Army to organise youth cricket and is an avid rugby player having played with the British Police.
