Meet the Team

Our team bring years of experience in the sporting industry to the table and are sports people through and through. We pride ourselves on understanding our clients’ needs – our team includes previous Directors of Sport, teachers, and past parents of touring children, so we know what it is like, and where the priorities are.

Matthew Jackson

Matthew Jackson

Managing Director

Founder of the company back in 2006, Matthew knows Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Sharjah like the back of his hand, and in particular, the complex structure of its cricket community.

A fanatical cyclist, he is often out on the roads of Sussex and the Dubai cycle tracks during his free time. Matthew is an enthusiastic, if average, village cricketer and is not shy of reminding us that he scored a 50 just after his 50th Birthday… we hope he gives up cricket before he gets to 60!

Roger Myall

Roger Myall

Director

Roger originally became involved in the business as a non-executive Director back in 2007.  Since then has played a key role in the strategic development of Sporta Tours. He joined the team on a full-time basis in 2012 and now heads up our business development, helping to cement relationships.
.
Roger is a stalwart of sport in his home town of Eastbourne…. Golf (6 handicap), Cricket (played at Lords twice in the National Club final) and Football (never achieved anything much), and even has a stand at Eastbourne Town FC named after him (or is that his Dad?)
David Hallam

David Hallam

Director

David has been part of the Sporta Tours team since 2007, helping the company since its inception, in a variety of roles. David now undertakes a non-exec role, utilising his years of experience of company operations to support the company’s continued success.

An avid sportsman, he likes to dabble in a variety of sports with football being his main passion. David has finally made the last step in his football career which has taken him from centre forward, to midfield, to defence, to a very poor goalkeeper. He is now content with bringing the oranges on a Saturday. His boots are always in the back of the car, just in case.

Christine Jackson

Christine Jackson

Head of Operations

Christine worked alongside Matthew to help set Sporta up in 2006.

Now Head of Operations, she manages our flight and accommodation bookings with meticulous attention to detail along with our HR. A keen hiker, Christine is looking forward to helping host more tours in Nepal!

Emily Fairwood

Emily Fairwood

Account Manager

Emily works with the professional teams who choose Sporta for their tour logistics and pre-season tours. Her sharp organisational skills and friendly personality help us deliver seamless and exciting tours abroad. She is well known to many of the schools who work with us and is also an integral part of the Sporta Management team.

.
Emily was a keen rower at university and still follows the sport closely; it’s a safe bet that you will find her on the banks of the River Thames during Henley Regatta week. Beyond the UK, her on-the-ground knowledge and experience in the destinations we specialise in makes her an extremely knowledgeable host for our touring clients.
Sam Wicks

Sam Wicks

Destination Manager

Sam joined the team in 2014 as a graduate of Henley Business School at Reading University, where he spent much of his time playing hockey and organising his team’s trips. So a career in sport tours and management was the perfect progression.  As Destination Manager he manages tours and events to many of our destinations. He is also involved in our marketing and IT and the person we all turn to with computer woes.

Cricket, rugby, running, and field hockey are his favourite sports, and he spends many weekends structuring plans the rugby TV schedule!

Michael Craigs

Michael Craigs

Sales

Michael has worked in sports travel for many years and has extensive experience managing tours for schools, clubs and teams. He is based in the North East and focused on developing tours for our clients in this region.

Sport is his greatest passion, particularly rugby and cricket. He has represented Durham CCC and Northumberland CCC and coached here in the UK and overseas. With some fantastic travel experiences under his belt too, including time spent in Spain, Australia and New Zealand, he is able to combine both in his role here at Sporta.

Megan Brickell

Megan Brickell

Account Executive

Megan joined us from Manchester United’s hospitality team. Armed with a law degree from the University of Swansea, she got stuck in immediately. Her role involves leading our inbound UK tours and travelling with touring teams to destinations such as the UAE and Nepal.

Away from her desk, Megan can comfortably outrun all of us, having competed successfully at Regional and County level in cross country running, rowing and horse riding.

Emma Ferley

Emma Ferley

Account Executive

Emma works as part of our team hosting tours alongside her role in Sporta Management. She provides invaluable support on the agency side of our business which encompasses player and event management and sponsorship.

Her passion for horses sees Emma regularly volunteer at a rescue centre when she’s not pitch-side watching cricket with her family.

Toby Marriott

Toby Marriott

Media Director

Toby heads up Sporta Media, the division of the Sporta Group that provides media services and creates digital content for clients, including touring teams, players and partner organisations. As such, he is an integral part of the Group and works closely with the team on many of our tours.

Toby has produced digital content for the ICC, ESPN, the ECB and The Barmy Army, whilst growing Cricket District, a multi-platform media network for cricket fans now owned by Sporta Group.

Mark Stear

Mark Stear

Tour Host

Mark plans and co-ordinates tours to Sri Lanka, and also helps out on our tours to the UAE, having toured to both destinations on numerous occasions. Mark is a very accomplished cricketer having played to minor counties standard with Berkshire CCC, and has also played rugby with the British Police. Mark also plays a leading role in organising youth cricket with the Barmy Army.

There isn’t a batsman in the world that Mark hasn’t got out, or a bowler he hasn’t hit for four.

Bruce Evans

Bruce Evans

Rugby Specialist & France, South Africa and Long Haul Tour Coordinator

Bruce is the rugby specialist at Sporta Tours, bringing his many years of experience of school rugby tours to the company from his past life as a Head of PE. He has lived in rugby-mad Wales, France, where he is in charge of co-ordinating and delivering our tours there, as well as South Africa, and further afield. He also helps organise and run rugby tours to the UAE, having been involved since our first rugby tour to the UAE in 2008, with Reigate Grammar.
.
He stills plays rugby as an ‘experienced’  fleet footed, non-tackling (still!) scrum-half. As a very accomplished tennis player and coach, it means he is able to maintain sports injuries year round, and keep the local physio in business.
