Girls from Caterham School enjoyed the experience of a lifetime courtesy of Sporta Tours as guests of honour at one of the US’ biggest and final NBA games of the regular season on 11th April.

Girls from the school’s netball & lacrosse teams, who are visiting Orlando with Sporta, were invited on court to stand with the Orlando Magic and Washington Wizards players during the singing of the national anthem. The game took place at the prestigious Amway Center in Orlando in front of a crowd of 18,000+.

Rachel Hart, Caterham School tour leader commented: “It’s been an inspiring experience for the girls. Our thanks go to Sporta for what can only be described as the most MAGICAL experience! #puremagic.”

Charlotte Tracy 4th year team captain added “It was nerve-wracking stepping out in front of such a huge crowd at first but they made us feel very welcome and special – it was amazing. To then watch the game and learn more about the sport which is so huge in the US was great.”

“It was nerve-wracking stepping out in front of such a huge crowd at first but they made us feel very welcome and special – it was amazing.

“With this being the Orlando Magic’s Fan Appreciation Night, this is a perfect way to thank all those who support us and especially our overseas fans from England,” said Magic Sr. Vice President Christ D’Orso. “The Magic appreciate all of its fans and take great pride in delivering legendary moments. Our goal is to make sure everyone who visits the award-winning Amway Center to cheer on the Magic has a memorable experience.”

Caterham’s tour was featured on the Sky Sports programme, Game Changers! The girls put together Vlogs from their trip and it was put together into the video below, including footage of when they stood on the pitch with the NBA players! This video summarises their “magical” tour in a fun way!

Caterham School’s itinerary included entry in the South Florida Netball Festival, in which their U15A and U14A teams finished as runners up and winners. The Lacrosse team enjoyed a number of games, on outstanding quality pitches, and against well established opposition, such as IMG academy. They also were gifted first-class coaching and advice from a training session with Florida Southern College Women, which was a great experience for the girls (see below).

A trip to Universal Studios on the final day of the tour wrapped up their tour in style, which the girls claimed was a highlight of their fantastic tour!
