This month Sporta Tours are taking eight schools and clubs to five destinations

October is a busy and ever-growing month for sports tours. It’s a popular time with schools because it avoids exams, it provides an ideal window for pre-season preparation and development in several sports, and teams can be assured of great weather overseas for outdoor training and competition.

This October will see the Sporta Tours team take groups to Kenya, Spain, Sri Lanka, Rwanda and the UAE for cricket, football and netball.

Who’s Heading Where for What:

  • Claverham Community College – netball and football tour to Sri Lanka
  • Huddersfield Grammar – netball tour to UAE
  • Stonyhurst College- netball tour to UAE
  • Midland Academy – cricket tour to UAE
  • Complete Cricket Academy – cricket tour to UAE
  • Cuckmere Valley Vets – cricket tour to Kenya

& finally, cricket in Rwanda

Sporta Tours are also the official logistics partner for the Rwanda Cricket Tournament, Cricket Build Hope. The charitable organisation, RCSF (Rwanda Cricket Stadium Foundation), is creating a new cricket vision for Rwanda.

A brand new stadium is currently in the final stages of construction and will be unveiled during the tournament, which takes place 21st – 29th October. Eight teams will be competing, including:

  • Rwanda XI
  • Coutts (Bank)
  • Eton Ramblers
  • Kenya
  • Christopher Shale (Surrey)
  • Grannies (South England)
  • Yorkshire Tea
  • Uganda

A charity match will also be held during the event, with Brian Lara’s XI facing Michael Vaughan’s XI.

With cricket being the country’s fastest growing sport, the overall aim of the initiative is to create a facility and cricket home for all Rwandan people.

The large-scale project has been provided with support from several companies, including Yorkshire Tea, one of the primary associates.
