Nottinghamshire and Yorkshire CCC’s pre-season tours for the 2018-19 season, coordinated by Sporta Tours, have touched down in South Africa. The squads are spending 13 days in Potchefstroom, which YCCC Assistant Coach Rich Pyrah describes as ‘the best in the world’.

The destination makes a change for Yorkshire CCC. The squad has travelled with Sporta Tours to the UAE for the past four years, but chose Potch this year for a number of reasons. According to Martyn Moxon, Yorkshire’s Director of Cricket: “I think Potch will give us more similar conditions to early season England. Plus it’s a good place to get everyone together as a team to build that strong bond.”

Sporta enjoy a longstanding relationship with both Counties. Matthew Jackson, Director of Sporta Tours commented: “We have worked with the teams on a number of tours in recent years and know South Africa well as a destination. The facilities are excellent and offer a very competitive, high calibre option for overseas training.”

Peter Moores, Head Coach at Nottinghamshire and former England Cricket Head Coach added: “I can confidently recommend it as an excellent venue for player preparation. To have a world class gym, Test Match ground and outstanding nets all within one facility is rare and has allowed us to keep our practise varied and relevant. The Sporta team are very friendly and accommodating which has also added to the enjoyment of the trip.”

The tours will take in six match days of cricket, including a two-day and a 50-over game between the Counties as well as a 50-over clash between Yorkshire and Leeds/Bradford University.

The Yorkshire squad line-up includes: Ballance c, Bresnan, Brook, Brooks, Carver, Coad, Hodd, Kohler-Cadmore, Leaning, Lees, Lyth, Patterson, Plunkett, Rafiq, Shaw, Tattersall, Wainman, Waite, Warner, Willey. You can follow Yorkshire’s news online at yorkshireccc.com/news
