Meet the Team

Our team bring years of experience in the sporting industry to the table and are sports people through and through. We pride ourselves on understanding our clients’ needs – our team includes previous Directors of Sport, teachers, and past parents of touring children, so we know what it is like, and where the priorities are. Check out our profiles below!

Matthew Jackson

Matthew Jackson

Managing Director

Founder of the company back in 2006, Matthew knows Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Sharjah like the back of his hand, and in particular the complex structure of its cricket community.

A fanatical cyclist, he is often out on the roads of Sussex and the Dubai cycle tracks during his free time. Matthew is an enthusiastic, if average, village cricketer and is not shy of reminding the staff in the office that he scored a 50 just after his 50th Birthday… We hope he gives up cricket before he gets to 60!

Roger Myall

Roger Myall

Director

Roger originally became involved in the business as a non-executive Director back in 2007, and since then has played a key role in the strategic development of what has become Sporta Tours. He joined the team on a full-time basis in 2012, and now heads up the Business Development and Sales division, helping to cement relationships and drive sales to our growing list of niche sporting destinations.

Roger is a stalwart of sport in his home town of Eastbourne…. Golf (6 handicap), Cricket (played at Lords twice in the National Club final) and Football (never achieved anything much), and even has a stand at Eastbourne Town FC named after him (or is that his Dad?)

David Hallam

David Hallam

Director

David has been part of the Sporta Tours team since 2007, helping the company since its inception, in a variety of roles. David now undertakes a non-exec role, utilising his years of experience of company operations to help the company continue to be successful.

An avid sportsman, who likes to dabble in a variety of sports, football is his main passion. David has finally made the last step of his football career from centre forward, to midfield, to defence, to a very poor goalkeeper, and now is content with bringing the oranges on a Saturday. Boots are always in the back of the car just in case.

Christine Jackson

Christine Jackson

Head of Operations

Christine is in her second spell at Sporta Tours, having helped Matthew set up the company initially in 2006. As Head of Operations, she runs our flights and hotel booking systems. A keen hiker, she is looking forward to helping host more tours in Nepal!
Emily Fairwood

Emily Fairwood

UAE Operations Manager

Emily is responsible for overseeing all tour logistics in the UAE; this includes both professional and school/amateur tournaments that take place. Emily splits her time between the UAE and London in order to also assist with inbound tours to the UK. Emily’s organisational skills and friendly personality help us to deliver seamless and exciting tours for all of our clients.

Emily was a keen rower at university and still follows the sport closely; it’s a safe bet that you will find her down on the banks of the River Thames during Henley Regatta week. She also has a keen passion for food, whether it’s keeping on top of the latest trendy places to open their doors, or putting her own skills to the test.
Mark Stear

Mark Stear

Sri Lanka Tours Co-ordinator

Mark plans and co-ordinates tours to Sri Lanka, and also helps out on our tours to the UAE, having toured to both destinations on numerous occasions. Mark is a very accomplished cricketer having played to minor counties standard with Berkshire CCC, and has also played rugby with the British Police. Mark also plays a leading role in organising youth cricket with the Barmy Army.

There isn’t a batsman in the world that Mark hasn’t got out, or a bowler he hasn’t hit for four.

Bruce Evans

Bruce Evans

Rugby Specialist & France, South Africa and Long Haul Tours Co-ordinator

Bruce is the rugby specialist at Sporta Tours, bringing his many years of experience of school rugby tours to the company from his past life as a Head of PE. He has lived in  France, where he is in charge of co-ordinating and delivering our tours there, as well as South Africa, and further afield. He also helps organise and run rugby tours to the UAE, having been involved since our first rugby tour to the UAE in 2008, with Reigate Grammar.

He stills plays rugby as an ‘experienced’  fleet footed, non-tackling (still!) scrum-half. As a very accomplished tennis player and coach, it means he is able to maintain sports injuries year round, and keep the local physio in business.
Sam Wicks

Sam Wicks

Destination Co-ordinator, IT and Marketing Lead

Sam joined the team in the summer of 2014 as a graduate of the Henley Business School, Reading University. He spent a great deal of his time (perhaps more than on studying!) playing for his hockey team and organising their trips, so working in the sport tours industry full-time was the perfect switch! He now leads our marketing campaigns, coordinates tours to many of our destinations, and runs IT projects (as well as helping his colleagues with their computer woes!)

Rugby, running, and field hockey are his chosen sports, and you can find him most weekends structuring his plans around the rugby TV schedule!

Kerrie Low

Kerrie Low

Tour Host

Kerrie is back at Sporta Tours, having taken some time off to be with her family. Based in the UAE, she hosted the majority of our tours before 2015, and returning customers may well still see her smiling face during their tour. Kerrie now runs several special projects for the company. A fierce competitor, Kerrie enjoys her running (or more like fast walking these days!) and her passion is Dragon Boat Racing in Dubai!
